How does one begin to encapsulate the life of a woman trailblazer who lived life to the fullest and shone brightly each day? …………………And she did it for 99 years! Firstly, you don’t do it alone. It takes a village and that’s exactly what the Kitturs from Belgaum, India did in the summer of 2021, on her 105th Birth Anniversary, and a little over five years since the passing away of an iconic teacher to tens of thousands of boys of St. Paul’s School. We, Kitturs activated our village…. 4 generations of family members, students and colleagues’ testimonials spanning 4 decades of her teaching career, a co-worker remembering her early career as a freedom fighter and journalist in the 1930s and much more. Each of them contributing stories, memories, photos, and testimonials from every corner of the world to tell her story, to celebrate her memory. Freedom Fighter, Patriot, Author, Poet, Founder of the Belgaum Women’s Club and Lifelong Learner. This Iron lady of Belgaum, that’s Mrs. ANUURADHA KITTUR ……………my grandmother, my Aji. I, Sonali Kittur, her oldest granddaughter, an educationist following her footsteps, is thrilled to present the first of the many-part audio-story series, a true labor of love, produced by Evergreen Story, about the life and times of our dearest Aji. I have my Aunt Nalini, my Uncle Raju from their home in Mumbai and New Jersey in conversation with Uday along with my Aunt Laxmi from her home in Belgundi reading excerpts from Aji’s Memoir talking about her early life.
