Growing up in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, Kalki Subramaniam was bullied for being different. Today things have changed and she credits her creativity and resilience for it. Kalki is the first transgender woman in India to do a lead role in a motion picture and through her organization, she’s supported transgender people to find livelihood through the arts. She’s transgender rights activist, artist, actress, writer, inspirational speaker and entrepreneur. Here, Kalki shares memories from her childhood and how she defines resistance.
