Kitturs are synonymous with dentistry in Belgaum. I remember from baby to permanent teeth and quite a few cavity fillings, it was the familiar sight of the dental chair and Dr or Dr (Mrs.) Kittur’s smile as they treated my whole family. Yet, the Kittur that stole the show in my memory is Teacher Anuradha Kittur. I am Joe Fenn, batch of 1985, from St. Paul’s Boy’s High School and though Teacher Kittur had retired before I joined in 1974, she was a distinctive figure we would see at every school function. Always the guest of honor or a judge at an elocution or speech contest. Then came Hindi Poetry in 9th grade and if it wasn’t for her one-on-one tuition classes from her home behind school, I would have struggled with Kabir and his Dohas or Dohe. In the second part of the audio-series on the life and times of Teacher Mrs. Kittur, more than 36 years since I met her last, we present straight from the heart musings from generations of students who will never forget her.
