Growing up in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, Kalki Subramaniam was bullied for being different. Today, she’s the first transwoman in India to do a lead role in a motion picture and through her organization, she’s supported other transgender people to find livelihood through the arts. She’s an activist, artist, actress, writer, inspirational speaker and entrepreneur. Here, Kalki shares how a painting she did of the popular South Korean band BTS brought her a lot of recognition, what her mother’s support means to her, and how she’d like to be remembered.
