Kamlesh Sood was only 8 years old when her family made the journey from her home in Jhelum, and then Sukkur in Sindh province, to Ludhiana during the harrowing events of the 1947 Partition of the South Asian subcontinent. In our full conversation in Hindi and Punjabi at her home in Ludhiana, Punjab, Kamlesh shares her memories of the violence of Partition and arriving with her family to the New Delhi train station without a penny to their name.
