Indian Naval Officer Captain Louis George Meprath an alumnus of Sainik School Kazhakootam , Wadia College Pune, the 49th course of the National Defence Academy Pune and finally armed with an MTech from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Powai in Computer systems and controls engineering. He was the bronze medal winner of the 49th course and the Battalion Cadet Captain ( BCC) of the Juliet Squadron while he passed out of the NDA. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1977 and retired in 2013. He served as the engineer officer on board INS Hosdurg, INS Prabal, INS Tir and INS Vindhyagiri. He spent 10 years in Defence Machinery Design Establishment (DMDE) at Secunderabad. An outstanding basketball player who represented the Navy and Services at the nationals and is currently the coach of the Indian Women Wheelchair basketball team.
