Growing up in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, Kalki Subramaniam was bullied for being different. Today, Kalki is the first transwoman in India to do a lead role in a motion picture and through her organization, she’s supported other transgender people to find livelihood through the arts. She’s an activist, artist, actress, writer, inspirational speaker and entrepreneur. Here, Kalki shares one thing she would change about the experience of transgender kids in India right now and her work towards achieving the 2014 landmark Supreme Court judgement recognizing the transgender community as the third gender.
